Bringing GoRecycle’s environmental mission to life while providing real support to people in the process of social integration and helping them find housing: that’s exactly what our latest collaboration with Groupe Coderr makes possible!
GoRecycle is proud to announce its support for Groupe Coderr’s affordable housing project, Les Habitations Coderr, by donating 12 reused refrigerators.
The reuse of these 12 refrigerators–giving them a second life when they are entrusted to GoRecycle so they can be reused rather than recycled–is made possible thanks to the expertise of service provider PureSphera.
This company is responsible for inspecting, testing, and refurbishing the refrigerators, ensuring reliable, safe, and high-quality appliances for future residents.
Les Habitations Coderr is a complex of 60 affordable housing units located in Alma, in the Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean region. Its opening is planned for January 2026.
The project is an initiative of Groupe Coderr, a social economy enterprise recognized for its social integration mission, supporting individuals who are far from the labour market and isolated.
Les Habitations Coderr will offer, among other things:
To equip the new housing units, GoRecycle is donating 12 used refrigerators to Groupe Coderr’s project.
These appliances come from the GoRéemploi program, an initiative that prioritizes the repair, inspection, and reuse of cooling appliances collected by the GoRecycle network through its partners.
This contribution makes it possible to:

Refrigerators contain refrigerants, gases which can potentially emit more than one tonne of greenhouse gases (GHG) if not properly treated.

The relationship between GoRecycle and Groupe Coderr dates back to the launch of the recovery program in 2021.

GoRecycle supports the projects by donating 12 reused refrigerators. These appliances come from the GoRéemploi program, which redirects functional refrigerators toward reuse rather than recycling.
The refrigerators come from the GoRecycle collection network and are then sorted, cleaned, and tested by service provider PureSphera.
Reuse extends the lifespan of the appliance, avoids the need to manufacture a new refrigerator, reduces greenhouse gas emissions (GHG), limits resource consumption, and decreases waste requiring treatment.

GoRecycle is the only organization recognized by RECYC-QUÉBEC that ensures the responsible recycling of cooling appliances in Quebec. We recycle refrigerators, air conditioners, freezers, wine coolers, dehumidifiers and water coolers through nearly 400 drop-off points in Quebec, and over 100 banner pickup partners with the purchase of a new fridge. GoRecycle is a non-profit organization (NPO).
