In the excitement and frenzy of Black Friday, we sometimes forget an important step: what do we do with the old appliance?
With the click of a button, we buy something and schedule delivery… and only afterwards do we ask ourselves, “Wait—what am I supposed to do with my old fridge now?” What should be our top concern often ends up as an afterthought. And that’s exactly what I’d love for us to change together!
If the harmful materials in these appliances aren’t handled properly, each one can release, on average, a tonne of greenhouse gases (GHGs). That’s why disposing of them responsibly is so important for the environment.
Let’s take the time to do it right
So here’s my suggestion: if you’re taking advantage of Black Friday deals to replace an appliance that has reached the end of its life, plan ahead for the responsible disposal of your old one.
