GoRecycle Expands Its Doorstep Pickup Service to Several Municipalities

Press Release | By GoRecycle |

A free turnkey pickup service for end-of-life cooling appliances

Montréal, May 5, 2026 – Getting rid of an old fridge or freezer that’s been sitting around has never been easier—and what better way than to recycle it! Following a successful launch in Montréal and Laval last spring, GoRecycle is expanding its free doorstep pickup service to several other municipalities across Québec. This expansion will put the service within reach of more residents and promote environmentally responsible action.

For example, recycling a refrigerator prevents an average of one tonne of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions from being released—directly supporting the fight against climate change.

Starting this spring and over the coming months, residents in the following areas will be able to use the service:

  • Longueuil Agglomeration (May 4)
  • L’Assomption RCM (May 4)
  • Les Moulins RCM (May 4)
  • Lévis (May 4)
  • Gatineau (June 15)

A simple and efficient alternative for residents

Addressing a strong demand, the service is designed for households looking to responsibly dispose of an end-of-life cooling appliance. Eligible appliances include refrigerators, freezers, air conditioners (portable and window units), dehumidifiers, wine coolers, water coolers and dispensers.

To dispose of a cooling appliance for free, simply schedule a pickup service at gorecycle.com/collecte, place the appliance outside, and follow a few easy preparation steps.

Since its launch, our doorstep pickup service has been a great success, showing just how much residents are looking for simple, accessible, and responsible solutions. By expanding our service, we’re enabling even more Quebecers to take concrete action for the environment—reducing GHG emissions and ensuring that more than 95% of these appliances’ contents are recovered.

Doorstep pickup: how it works

  • That’s it! A carrier will pass by on the scheduled pickup day to collect your appliance.
